Documentation is such an important part of what we do. From assessments and treatment details to patient discussions and aftercare, I want to know that everything has been accurately recorded.

Because the appointment might be over, but the nursing doesn’t stop when the patient walks out the door.

And every nurse knows the golden rule… if it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen 👀

A bit late to the party but ONE whole year of Tegan Louise Aesthetics 🤎

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since I started this little business of mine within the beautiful Curated Skin Aesthetics space.

Although I had a few years experience in cosmetic nursing prior, the business side of things was all very new. There have been so many highs, a few stressful moments (okay… maybe more than a few 😂), plenty of learning curves and a lot happening behind the scenes — but every bit of it has been worth it.

I’m so incredibly grateful to every single person who has booked an appointment, followed me, trusted me with their face, recommended me to a friend, or simply supported me over this first year. I genuinely wouldn’t be here without you.

And as I head into year two, there are a few exciting changes happening behind the scenes. A new website is launching soon, along with a new booking system to make things a little easier and more seamless for you.

But don’t worry — Tegan Louise Aesthetics isn’t going anywhere. I’ll still be treating from the beautiful Curated Skin Aesthetics space, just with a few fresh changes as the business continues to grow. 🤍

Outer Lip Anatomy 101 👄

Understanding lip anatomy is the foundation of achieving beautiful, balanced and natural-looking results.

• Cupid’s Bow – The double curve of the upper lip that creates shape and definition.

• Vermillion Border – The natural border between the lip and surrounding skin. Defining this area enhances lip shape without looking overfilled.

• Philtrum – The two vertical ridges extending from the Cupid’s bow to the base of the nose. Preserving these maintains a youthful, natural appearance.

• Tubercles – The natural areas of fullness within the lips that create volume and contour. Respecting these structures helps maintain harmony and proportion.

Not every concern with filler needs to be dissolved.

Hyaluronidase is an invaluable tool in aesthetic medicine, but it’s not something that should be used simply because a result isn’t perfect. Before reaching for the syringe, a thorough assessment is essential. Is it truly filler? Is dissolving the best option? Should we do a full dissolve or is spot dissolve a better option?

When dissolving is the right choice, precision matters. The goal is to use the minimum effective dose to target only the area that needs treatment while preserving surrounding tissue and maintaining facial balance. The exception is in a medical emergency, such as a suspected vascular occlusion, where restoring blood flow is the priority and higher or repeated doses of hyaluronidase may be necessary.

This is why choosing an experienced medical practitioner is so important. A skilled practitioner understands not only how to dissolve filler, but when it is appropriate—and when it isn’t.

Education empowers better decisions, for both practitioners and patients.

Do you have a more sensitive side when it comes to cosmetic treatments?

Pain perception varies from person to person, and it’s completely normal for one side of the face to feel more sensitive than the other—often the left side can be more responsive due to differences in neural pathways.

Most of my patients are quite comfortable throughout treatment, but to keep you comfortable, we use a range of tools including a buzzing distraction device, stress balls, and ice before treatment. We also often start on the more sensitive side first so you’re not building anticipation 🤍
